We lost our captain on September 1. Did you catch my nod to him in The Golden Apple Tale: 40th Anniversary Tribute? He plays a bigger role in this treasure hunt than you might realize. I'll leave it at that.
I never really considered myself a Parrothead. But I have enjoyed his music since the early 1980s. I still have the cassette tape with Margaritaville. He was a great songwriter, singer, author and all around entertainer. And from all accounts, a great person.
A lot of singers end up performing in casinos and such. But Jimmy was still selling out regular concert venues right up to his death at the age of 76. Many of them are available on YouTube because he allowed them to be livestreamed. That was pretty awesome. Imagine that - 76 years old and still giving concerts (quality concerts too!).
He released a lot of albums over the years and there are a lot of hidden treasures in his music. Margaritaville and Come Monday might be two of his most well known hits, but that's just the surface. Take some time to dig deeper into his music. You might find some old tunes that become new favorites.
